SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. – U.S. Transportation Command commenced Ultimate Caduceus 2024 June 10 to conduct inter-theater patient movement within the Indo-Pacific and patient distribution within the continental United States.

Ultimate Caduceus is an annual patient movement training event designed to test the capabilities and provide hands-on training for aeromedical evacuation and critical care air transport teams, medical staging systems, as well as interagency partners involved in the shelter and onward movement functions for patients worldwide. movement.

“Ultimate Caduceus shows the world what our leading medical professionals can do and the lengths we will go to ensure our warfighters get the care they need and get them home,” said Air Force Col. Christopher Backus, USTRANSCOM command surgeon.

This year’s exercise combines virtual command post training, which will take place from June 10 to 20, with field training operations, which will take place from June 15 to 18 and June 20 to 21. Field training operations include six locations including: Andersen Air Force Base, Guam; Travis Air Force Base, California; Sacramento, California, Reno, Nevada, Denver; and Salt Lake City.
More than 1,000 military and civilian personnel from across the force are participating in the exercise, including representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Defense Health Agency.

USTRANSCOM is the Department of Defense’s sole manager of global patient traffic and provides the world’s only long-range, high-capacity aeromedical evacuation capability, enabling en-route healthcare management for patients from locations around the world to their point of definitive medical care.
