On Saturday, about 50 attendees took part in a 30-minute yoga routine while baby goats cuddled, lay and jumped on their backs at the Century Farm Winery in Jackson, Tennessee.

The event, hosted by 901 Goats, marked the second time Jacksonians were able to participate in the sold-out experience.

901 Goats, a family-owned goat farm based in Rossville, Tennessee, introduced goat cuddling during a break in the summer of 2020. Soon after, the farm expanded yoga, which proved to be a success.

The experience is also offered in Memphis.

“Our area here around Memphis (there’s) just not a lot of goat farmers, let alone yoga mixed in. So Memphis just seized on it and they kept asking about it, so we grew the business from it,” said Lindsey Champagne, co-owner of 901 Goats.

When asked what specifically draws people to goat yoga, Champagne explained the benefits and enjoyment participants experience.

“Yoga in itself is beneficial,” she said. “The stretching and relaxation of yoga, close to the ground and being involved with the animals, brings that animal therapy and laughter therapy. So it’s a lot of fun to do.”

After a second straight year of selling out at Century Farm, 901 Goats has Jackson on the radar for more dates.

“Once a year is about what we’ve been focusing on so far, but it seems like they sell out every time we’re here. I would like to be here more often,” said Champagne.
