Despite being initially derided, the 1998 film Practical Magic has mesmerized audiences and won hearts in recent times. Still, it’s baffling how a film starring both Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, and a mixture of sisterly bonds and magical accidents, missed the mark for some.

Alice Hoffman, the creative mind behind the 1995 novel on which this film was based, didn’t let things go. Critics just didn’t give it the fair chance it deserved. So while the film wasn’t exactly a hit at first, it certainly exudes a charm that’s now hard to resist.
